Queenswood is an extraordinary place with extraordinary people. It would be our privilege to educate your daughters here.

Latin & Classical Civilisation

All girls at Queenswood begin courses in Classical Civilisation and Latin in Year 7. Those who show aptitude for language learning move to a stimulating course in Latin, culminating in a half-GCSE sat at the end of Year 9. Other students continue to study Classical Civilisation, exploring the drama, art, architecture, mythology and everyday customs of Ancient Greece and Rome, with exciting opportunities for performance and mask-making.

The courses are designed to be inter-disciplinary, and teachers from a range of academic faculties offer their specialist perspectives on the study of the Ancient World. Both Latin and Classical Civilisation may be studied at GCSE and A level, and the subjects have grown rapidly in popularity in recent years.

Students have the opportunity to explore Roman Britain at some of the most impressive archaeological sites, including Verulamium in nearby St Albans and Bath Spa. There are trips for Classical Civilisation students to the British Museum and the Museum of London.
