The Gold Singing Award is always a real highlight of the musical year at Queenswood, and this year’s final, which took place on Thursday 7 November, was no exception.

Ten talented singers each performed two pieces, ranging from Radiohead to Richard Rogers, Laufey to Lin-Manuel Miranda, in front of a very appreciative audience in the Ernest Read Hall.

Our guest adjudicator was Christina Laurie, a vocalist, top liner and vocal coach who has worked with artists such as Cliff Richard, Beverley Knight and Hannah Waddingham.

She was very impressed with the overall standard of performance, and selected four prizewinners:

• Commended: Eleanor L
• Highly Commended: Amy H and Camilla T
• Winner: Calypso M

Many congratulations to everyone who took part in this very special event, and thanks to Mr Newport and Mr Puranik for their accompaniment and to the VMS team for supporting and preparing our performers.
