We are very excited to report that Queenswood’s singing ensemble, The Quire, has been shortlisted for the GSA Choir of the Year competition.

Mrs Jackson, Director of Music, submitted videos of two performances from the Autumn Term – John Rutter’s haunting ‘A Flower Remembered’ and an arrangement of A-ha’s ‘Take On Me’.

The judges’ commented that the Rutter performance showed a ‘well presented choir, with a mature sense of legato and phrase...good dynamic build to a climax, and sensitive diminuendo. Overall a musical performance.’ They very much enjoyed the A-ha piece as well: ‘Good sense of fun...the choir tackled the challenge well...The choral moments were very successful and choir had great energy and performance commitment...Congratulations also to your soloist.’

The singers will now progress to the final at the King’s High School, Warwick on Sunday 16 March.
