Academic Scholars: The Human Heart and Dead Languages
Friday 7 February 2025
ADELAIDE W, YEAR 11
This week, Issy N (Year 11) gave a very interesting and informative talk titled ‘The anatomy and pathology of the heart’. She talked about how the heart worked, how to label the heart and common heart diseases. At the end she was asked questions such as; ‘when did you become interested in the heart?’ and ‘what is your favourite heart fact?’
The second talk was by Lucy B (Year 13). Her subject was, ‘Why study a dead language?’ During her talk she spoke about the importance of learning Latin and how it has been useful for her. She said it was important because it can help people to develop their English skills, translate other languages due to the similarities, improve writing skills and get into university. She was asked some interesting questions, including ‘what is your favourite Latin word?’
