E-Safety Week: Fake News, Traitors and Screen Breaks
Friday 14 February 2025
GLORY O, DIGITAL PREFECT
This week was E-Safety Week, and so the Digital Warriors and I started with our presentation in Chapel explaining how to use the internet safely, the potential consequences, and also thinking about taking time to step back and have time away from the internet as it can be quite overwhelming at times.
On Tuesday lunchtime the students had the opportunity to play a game where they worked in groups to guess whether the headline was real or written by ChatGPT, with opportunities to win prizes.
On Wednesday and Friday there was a game of ‘The Traitors’ in the OQ as this year’ – very fitting, as this year’s E-Safety Week theme was about protecting each other from lies and scams. The prize pot increased every round and the competition was fierce until the very end. It was well attended and we had lots of fun especially with a surprise cameo from Claudia ‘Mr Butler-Huggins’ Winkleman.
Meanwhile on Thursday there was a winter walk with Lisa O, Head Girl, to show the benefits of having one lunchtime a week off screens.
Overall, this year’s E-Safety Week has been a huge success and the students now have an increased awareness of what to do and what not to do.
