National Careers Week: From First Jobs to Dream Jobs
Friday 7 March 2025
LUCIE KING, HEAD OF CAREERS AND FUTURES
We’ve had lots of fun celebrating National Careers Week at Queenswood.
Year 7 'Snapshot of my future' photobooth event
Students had fun creating signs for a job they had found on Unifrog that was something they would be interested in doing, in the future. We then had some fun pictures taken with their signs – and even some props!
Careers Cafe - Bingo! Guess the staff's previous jobs
During break in the Dining Room on Tuesday and Thursday, all pupils had great fun trying to match the job to the teacher. Prizes were awarded to those who managed to get a full house on both days.
Virtual Careers Fair
This is still live, until Saturday 8 March. Four floors of over 100 exhibitors in the virtual conference centre at nationalcareersweek.com.
Careers Speaker
Danny King from the world of Motorsport kindly gave two talks on Wednesday – to Year 12 in their PSHE lesson, and to the rest of the school at lunchtime. The level of engagement and the standard of the questions were really impressive, so thank you to Danny, and thank you to the pupils who were all such enthusiastic participants!
Sixth Form: Dress for the Job You Want(ed...!)
On Friday, students in Years 12 and 13 spent the day in outrageous outfits, depicting the jobs they aspired to when they were younger. There were astronauts, vets, lawyers, politicians, firefighters, dancers, spies – and many, many more!
