Queenswood Geographers’ Flag Arrives in Antarctica
Friday 25 April 2025
A special flag designed by Queenswood Geography students has made it all the way to Antarctica!
The flag has been photographed on board The Sir David Attenborough Ship. Many members of the crew on the SDA have been involved in taking photographs for this project. Many are PHD students, however the SDA crew contains a wide range of professions including ecological modellers, biogeochemists, engineers, stewards and divers.
The photo was taken at St Andrew's Bay, South Georgia. The penguins are King Penguins, and there is a huge colony of them at St Andrew's Bay with an estimated 150,000 pairs of them making it one of the largest in the world.
