This year a number of students in KS3 took part in the Poetry by Heart competition. This is a national competition that requires students to learn modern and classic poems off by heart. Our students really rose to the occasion and we had fantastic entries from across the year groups.

Final entries were made for two categories:

• Freestyle: Annabelle R (Year 9), Kaya A (Year 8) and Adrienne S (Year 8)
• Classic : Beatrice A (Year 8) and Sahi K (Year 8)

There were over 37,000 entries altogether with 2,000 students making the final entry stage. This is a wonderful achievement that we hope to build on next year. We now have a ‘Poetry by Heart’ club that runs every Friday in F1 with Mrs Folan. If you are interested then please do come along and develop your love and passion for poetry.
