Queenswood Girls Achieve Impressive A-Level Grades with 80.7% A*-B
Tuesday 18 August 2020
Girls, parents and staff are celebrating an impressive set of A-Level and Pre-U results at Queenswood, with 80.7% of grades achieved at A*–B.
Despite the uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and the consequent upheaval to the regular examination process, the outcome reflects the girls’ dedication to their studies and the teachers’ commitment to providing the most robust information to the exam boards.
Subjects which performed particularly well include: Physics (100% A*-B), Politics (100% A*-A), Drama (100% A*-B) and Latin (100% A*-B). Results for modern foreign languages were also very good (91% A*-B across Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese). There were some outstanding individual achievements where girls achieved two, three or four A*s, and in total more than 20% of the year group received straight A*/A grades.
Commenting on the results, Principal, Mrs Jo Cameron said: “I am thrilled for the girls, their parents and our hard working staff. This year’s grading process has been very stressful for all of us and I am very proud that, prior to the reversion to Centre Assessed Grades, significantly fewer of the grades that we submitted were initially changed by the examining boards than the reported national figure.”
