MARIE P, YEAR 12
Year 12 Business students have been busy creating business plans and ideas for the Tycoon in Schools competition.
Since the Spring Term, we have been conducting market research on products which we may wish to sell within school. We found that tie-dye socks would be popular to sell due to positive market research that was conducted throughout Years 7 to 12. After submitting a business plan and applying for a loan from the Peter Jones foundation of £66 and being successful, Serenity Socks was formed.
Serenity socks provides coloured ankle tie-dye socks, each representing a different emotion, to communicate across their message to improve the lives of those suffering with mental disorders or poor mental health. Their aim is to improve the lives of young people suffering with mental disorders or poor mental health by enlightening customers on statistics and facts. Serenity socks hopes to reduce the stigma surrounding the topic of mental health to encourage more people to get talking.
Our company is currently in 5th place on the national Tycoon leaderboard and we hope to proceed further in the competition and be crowned winners. A percentage of profits will be donated to Young Minds, a mental health charity for children, young people and their parents, making sure all young people can get the mental health support they need.
