The Autumn Term in Stamp House

Monday 13 December 2021

My First Term at Queenswood

MAGGIE, YEAR 8

The first term has passed already! It was difficult at the beginning, but I ended up being very happy. I made a lot of friends, and it was great. I have played a lot of tennis, and I went horse riding. I am much better at football now, and I am really happy. I have found a very close friend, and I am going to visit her in the summer holidays. I hope that everyone has had a very good term, and that they have had a lot of fun.

Remembrance Service in Chapel

ADRIENNE, YEAR 8

I was part of the choir who sang in the Remembrance Service, and it meant I had a first class view of the service, and the service made us all - I think - feel closer to those who died in the process of protecting our country. There were beautiful sermons, and there were touching readings, and I think the service brought those who were there together, within the Q community. The choir received praise from the Housemistresses, the Principal, some of our School Governors, Rev’d Vindra, and even a member of the original choir who sang the song. Here is a link to our choir singing below, if you would like to watch it.

House Suppers

JESSICA, YEAR 7

House Suppers are some of the most popular and exciting nights of the whole year. Each House (Waller, Clapham South, Clapham North and Hartley) has the opportunity to have a House Supper. These are so fun and the Heads of House and the House captains Choose a theme and then everybody in that House can dress up and have a great time with delicious food, lots of music and fun with all of your friends.

Weekend Trips

CHIHIRO, YEAR 8

Trips are the best part of the weekend. We have gone shopping, to a museum and to eat burgers in Byron. We went ice skating as well, which was my favourite trip. This is because I couldn’t skate when I went there but in the end I did! We helped each other, my friends taught me how to skate and also when I fell down they helped me get up. I learned how important having friends was. If I didn’t have a friend I would definitely have struggled with skating. Do you like ice skating?

Life of a Boarder

YSABEL, YEAR 8

Being a full boarder is sometimes difficult because you can get homesick, but for the rest of the time it is very good. We go on trips every weekend! And every weekend we have things to do.

The teachers are super good, they are like  second mothers to us. I am a full boarder and I think that being a boarder is really nice. The teachers plan activities for us to have fun, and help us when we need help.

Boarding is good, because you have time to study (one hour after supper in the library) but after that you can relax. On some days, we have to clean our rooms, but there is always time to call our families.

Once a week, the teachers and a girl from Centre come and prepare a surprise treat for us. On the weekends, we always go on trips.

Some examples of trips we have been on:

  • V & A Museum and Byron Burgers
  • Shopping Centre
  • Pumpkin Farm
  • Go Ape
  • Decorating Stamp for Christmas

Flexi-boarding

PHOEBE, YEAR 7

Flexi-boarding is great for pupils who want to just try boarding. I's a lot of fun and something to look forward to throughout the week. At first it may be a little intimidating, but don't give up just because you might not like it on your first day. It will get better and you will like it more and more as the weeks go on. And, yes, boarding might not be your thing, but it is something you should definitely at least consider trying. I love flexi-boarding and I love all of the fun things you can do.
