Flesh: GCSE Drama Students’ Deliciously Macabre Performance
Thursday 10 March 2022
On Monday 7 March, GCSE Drama students performed extracts from Rob Drummond’s dystopian comedy, Flesh.
The premise of the play was certainly intriguing: a group of teenagers wake up in a forest with no clue how they got there. They find themselves separated into two different coloured teams but have no idea what game they are expected to play.
The performers were very effective in depicting the teenagers’ rapid descent into deep suspicion and tribalism, before they united in gruesome solidarity against a perceived common enemy. The student-created set design really enhanced the macabre atmosphere of the piece.
All in all, this was a dynamic and thought-provoking piece of theatre. Congratulations to everyone involved!
