The Medical Centre
The Medical Centre is at the heart of the school and is staffed by experienced Registered Children’s Nurses:
- Nurse Lisa Gaudion
- Nurse Tracy Bacon
- Nurse Gina Cornish
We pride ourselves on delivering high standards of care and promoting the life skills required to manage all aspects of health in the future. We empower students to manage their health needs so that they can move with confidence and knowledge towards independence in the adult world.
The welcoming environment of the purpose-built medical centre comprises a clinical room consulting room, bedrooms, and a lounge area where students can recuperate in a supported and safe environment. We provide a kind, listening, holistic service that respects the individual and ensures appropriate levels of confidentiality.
The Medical Centre is staffed by the nursing team during term time:
- 08.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday – Thursday
- 08.00 am to 5.00 pm on a Friday
Outside of these hours the 111 service is utilised.
Students at Queenswood receive emergency treatment in the event of an accident. If they need hospital attention for any reason our staff will contact you immediately.
N.B. If a student is unwell (boarder or day) the Nurses can discharge them from school to recover at home.
Full time boarders are encouraged to register with the School Doctor at Highview Medical Centre. The GPs holds twice weekly surgeries. Advice and additional services are available outside these times. Telephone 01707 871980.
Nurse-led clinics are available throughout the school day, promoting good physical and mental health and managing minor illness and minor injuries.
The Medical Centre team is an integral part of a student’s life, whether that be supporting a chronic illness, a mental health problem or just providing the care and monitoring required if they are unwell. We encourage parents/ guardians to contact the nursing team if they have any questions or concerns.
