Amelia’s poetry published in Young Writers anthology
Tuesday 14 January 2020
We are delighted to announce that Amelia B (Year 7) has had a poem published in Through Their Eyes – Everlasting Ink.
She was a winner in a recent competition organised by Young Writers, in which students were challenged with describing someone or something else’s point of view, in any poetic style.
I Am The Forest
I am the forest,
I have been here longer than you,
Many creatures jump between my twisting, tangled branches,
Some run about my feet,
The sun falls over me like a blanket, pulling up my plants,
The rain trickles and tickles down my leaves.
But you down there,
You give me fumes and I give you fresh air,
But you still cut me down bit by bit
And do not seem to care.
Do you not hear my screams?
Do you not hear me suffer?
Your blazes burn my skin and leave me with ash and dust.
I try to keep a smile on my face but I still feel pain,
It is not okay.
How do you gain from my suffering?
How do you carry on?
I will fight,
I am the forest
And I'm not giving in.
