Building Our Future – Exciting New Developments at Queenswood
Tuesday 7 November 2017
Queenswood is entering an exciting new phase in its development. Over the last year, we have been focusing on our long-term strategy; developing and refining a plan which places an all-round education with excellent teaching and learning at the fore and ensures that the School is ready to meet the needs of our girls and their families, both now and in the future.
We have already commenced a major programme of investment to enhance our existing facilities, including the new Queenswood Hall and outdoor netball courts – as well as the Bellman Sixth Form Centre and our fantastic new Library facility.
We are now starting with the next stage of our investment plan which focuses on a major refurbishment of some of our boarding accommodation. Aimed at supporting our highly popular flexi-boarding offer, we will be converting the existing Middle School boarding houses into one large house with modern and vibrant living spaces, comfortable and well-equipped facilities, and communal spaces for all the girls to gather.
Boarding is an important part of school life at Queenswood and our flexi-boarding packages are designed to provide our girls with further opportunities to enrich their experience: either to enjoy our wide range of after-school activities, to socialise with friends, or simply to reduce time travelling to school every day. In support of this, we have held fees at the same level across the School for two years. We are also introducing a new lower fee structure for our Lower School boarding in Year 7 & 8, which will be implemented from September 2018, so that our youngest pupils can enjoy an enriched experience at Queenswood from the start.
Whilst the physical elements of the boarding houses will change, the strong sense of community which exists at Queenswood will continue under our founding House system (Waller, Hartley, Clapham North and Clapham South). Stretching across the entire School, the Houses engender an enduring team spirit, supported by Form Tutors and Heads of Year, which will be further enhanced by the introduction of Heads of House next year.
We are evolving and shaping the School to ensure that we continue to provide an individual and personalised education for each of our girls; recognising and celebrating academic excellence alongside a varied and rich co-curricular programme; delivering high academic results and exceptional added value, and respecting our history and heritage whilst looking to the future.
