Competition Time: Black History Month

Thursday 3 October 2024

October is Black History Month. This year the theme is #ReclaimingNarratives, and you can read more about the significance of this month and the theme here.

To mark this month and celebrate the significance of Black History, the History Department are inviting all Q students to research a key individual or event on the theme of #ReclaimingNarratives.

Students who wish to enter should present their findings as a poster in either a Google document or slide (or any other creative method!)

When researching your person or event consider:

  • What happened?
  • Who was involved?
  • Key dates?
  • Why was this person or event significant?
  • Why should we celebrate or commemorate this person or event?
  • What can we learn from this person or event?

Or, perhaps you might read a book and write a review? The BHM website provides a comprehensive and interesting reading list.

Submit your entries to Mrs Curtin, Head of History by Friday 25 October. House points and prizes are up for grabs! The department looks forward to receiving your entries.
