Darkly Compelling Drama from the Lower Sixth
Friday 14 March 2014
The AS Drama students performed two enthralling pieces of Brechtian theatre on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 March.
Dr Korczak’s Example, by David Greig, told the desperately moving true story of the Polish writer and campaigner who founded an orphanage in the Warsaw ghetto in a heroic, but ultimately doomed, attempt to save the most vulnerable children from the Nazis.
Fear and Misery of the Third Reich, by Brecht himself, is a montage of disquieting sketches about Hitler’s domination of the German nation via means of propaganda, myth-making and callous violence.
