Eco-Committee Announces New Inititiatives
Sunday 12 March 2023
IZZIE E (YEAR 13), GREEN Q PREFECT
Hi everyone! The Eco Committee here, to give you all an update on our plans.
Thank you so much for everyone’s involvement in the recent Google Form to select which animal we are going to adopt as a school!
We are pleased to announce that the animal that we are going to adopt is…
...a snow leopard!
So now the fundraising begins. On Friday 28 April will be holding a non-uniform day where you can dress up as your favourite animal, or in green and brown tones. We will also have a Krispy Kreme sale on this day, so be sure to bring some spare cash!
In the meantime, we are going to turn our attention to litter around school. This is one of the categories we have chosen to improve for our Eco Schools Green Flag Award.
Litter picking is such an important activity for the whole community. One bag of litter can make a massive difference. That’s one less bag of litter to be a threat to birds, marine life and the environment.
But the only thing better than a litter pick is a House litter picking competition…
We will be dedicating some time in an extended lunchtime tutorial session on Wednesday 22 March for Years 8–11 to collect as much litter from around school as we can! We want to see which House can collect the most, and make the biggest difference to the environment in and around Queenswood. There will be prizes!
Thank you everyone for your continued support of the Eco Committee’s endeavours. We are excited to make a positive impact on our school community.
