Electioneering – Students Present the Main Parties’ Manifestos Before Mock Poll
Friday 28 June 2024
RICHARD MILLER, HEAD OF POLITICS
After weeks of acrimonious debate, personal attacks and endless policy announcements, Thursday July 4 will mark an important moment in democracy. Yes, the Queenswood Mock Election is here, and is being fought with the fervour you may expect. The last week of campaigning will see this being ramped up before the ballot next Thursday, with results announced in time for next week’s newsletter.
Years 11 and 13 may vote using the absentee ballot Google form and, along with all other year groups, may decide between the Conservative Party (led by Evie M 10W, and supported by Issy N 10W, Sahi K 9H, and Kaya A 9S), the Labour Party (led by Adrienne A 10H; supported by Grace H 10H), the Liberal Democrats (led by Adelaide W 10S; supported by Rachel F 8H), and Reform UK (led by Sixth Form students).
NB: the students are not necessarily personally endorsing the parties they are representing, but rather taking on the intellectual challenge of presenting the parties’ manifestos.
