Esperanza Climbs World Rankings

Esperanza Merry (Year 9) has enjoyed greatsuccess at two high ranking ITF Wheelchair Tennis tournaments in the UK.
She beat the women’s World No. 8 and Grand
Slam finalist Katharina Kruger of Germany 6-4 6-3. Esperanza is the
youngest to beat a Top Ten player.
She has now reached her highest ITF
Women’s ranking:
- No. 36 in Women’s Singles
- No. 37 in Women’s Doubles
Esperanza and her British doubles partner
Louise Hunt were runners up in the North West Challenge Women’s Doubles
Finals and semi-finalists in the Bolton Indoor Competition. In both tournaments Esperanza beat seeds
in singles, only losing to top-seeded players in three sets.
