GCSE and A-Level Drama students showcase their talents
Thursday 4 April 2019
The Spring Term saw a range of superb productions staged in the Helen McCrory Studio Theatre, as our GCSE and A-Level Drama students prepared for their practical exams.
In early March, Year 11 presented two plays about life in a girls' boarding school: the hilarious pastiche of 1920s adventure yarns, Daisy Pulls It Off; and Kieron Barry's vicious portrayal of rivalry and backstabbing among Head Girl contenders, Numbers.
At the end of March, the Lower Sixth staged two devised documentary dramas – Kings and Queens and Operation.
The first was a breathtaking whistle-stop tour of the history of the English monarchy, while the latter took a darkly comic look at the working life of NHS doctors.
Meanwhile the Upper Sixth performed a harrowing duologue – an extract from James Fritz's The Fall – about a couple whose financial difficulties lead one of them to take drastic measures.
Thanks as ever to Paul Toeman Photography for the superb images of the A-Level pieces.
