Geography: Year 11 Field Trip to Norfolk

Thursday 5 October 2023

MRS VICTORIA LOOKER, HEAD OF GEOGRAPHY

Year 11 Geographers spent a fruitful three days in Norfolk in September completing their GCSE fieldwork.

The Geography focused on coastal processes and students collected data such as beach profiles and sediment shape and size in order to compare the characteristics of Salthouse and Weybourne beaches.

They also visited Sheringham, where after a bit of free time for an ice cream, they briefly looked at the coastal defences in place there.

Human fieldwork took place in Norwich and compared two areas; Riverside, which has been regenerated using a leisure-led approach, and King Street, which is a mixed regeneration project.

Evenings were spent having fun and trying new activities such as climbing, bouldering and archery. Leadership skills and trust were also put to the test on a blindfolded obstacle course.
