Girls Independent Schools Gymnastics National Two Piece Competition
Friday 5 December 2014
On the weekend of 29-30 November three teams selected from the Queenswood gym squad competed at the National Two Piece Competition in Birmingham. For this
competition gymnasts only perform the set floor and voluntary vault. This gives teams the opportunity to qualify for the GISGA five-piece
competition in March.
The O13 team had a fairly early start being the first round
on but managed to perform well with the team coming 4th overall.
Olivia Baines was our highest placed gymnast, coming 3rd
individually.
Next to compete was the U15 team; the first U15 team
Queenswood had ever entered. The team all performed extremely well with Gabby Murray-Panayiotou coming 2nd and Jasmine Steyne coming 5th individually.
Overall the team were runners up; a fantastic achievement!
Last to compete were our brand new U13 team. They had only
been training for two months in the gym but performed brilliantly considering the
short space of time they had had to practise. The team managed to finish as the first reserve
for the GISGA five-piece competition and hope to compete.
Very well done to all the gymnasts who performed, and a
massive thank you to Mrs Wakeley and Miss Stephens for all the support and
coaching.
