Gothic tales and fingernails
Friday 11 November 2022
Their have been spooky happenings at Queenswood recently but please don't be alarmed - the students have been thoroughly enjoying the scary season!
As part of their gothic literature topic, our Year 9 pupils have been reading The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. Recounting the experiences of Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor who is sent to Eel Marsh House to settle the affairs of Alice Drablow, this haunting ghost story is woven with heartbreak and a desperate desire for revenge.
After finishing the book, Year 9 enjoyed writing their own stories with a ghoulishly gothic twist and we are delighted to share a few of them below. Well done to Poppy, Betsy and Gabby; the Newsletter team have awarded you points for your House!
Another hair-raising highlight of this term was last week's Halloween Supper. Our fantastic Catering team provided a spine-tingling feast including Witches' Fingers, Terrible Toffee Apples and Scary Skeleton Cookies. The Dining Room was adorned with spider encrusted cobwebs and the students were greeted by a particularly unsettling maître d'!
This fantastic evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all the girls who would like to say a sincere thank you to the Catering team.
