High Attendance, High Attainment
Friday 26 January 2024
As we get further into the school year, we would like to remind you of the importance of good school attendance for all students. Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning. Recent research completed by the Government, and our own data (see left – click to enlarge), have shown that students who constantly miss school are at risk of lower academic achievement.
Whilst we realise that there are a number of valid reasons why your child may miss school, we as a school will follow up any absence and look at ways to encourage, support and develop plans to improve your daughter’s attendance.
We monitor attendance and the Heads of Year will identify any patterns that may need consideration. This will involve a telephone call informing the parents of the concern, providing data that can be compared to the ‘High attendance, high attainment’ document above. We will then continue to monitor and support the child so that we can improve upon this.
