House Performing Arts 2017
Monday 30 January 2017
Queenswood’s actors, musicians, dancers and technicians did themselves – and their Houses – truly proud at the House Performing Arts Competition on Sunday 29 January 2017.
Clapham North – Hercules
The girls themselves, led by teams of Year 11 students, had the challenging task of choosing, abridging, scripting, casting and staging a 15-minute potted version of an existing piece of musical theatre. The girls were responsble for every aspect of the productions, from rehearsal schedules to lighting design.
Clapham South – Beauty and the Beast
The performances impressed our adjudicator, world-renowned soprano Melanie Marshall (star of Fela! at the National Theatre, Florence Foster Jenkins with Meryl Streep, and Queenswood’s 120th anniversary celebrations at the Barbican). She awarded a range of prizes for acting, musicianship, choreography and direction, as well as the coveted House Performing Arts Trophy, which went to Clapham North.
Hartley – Aladdin
We would like to congratulate everyone who was involved in any way in making the competition possible.
Waller – Hannah Montana
