International Women’s Day: Poems and Posters
Friday 8 March 2024
Pupils have been producing superb work to mark International Women’s Day.
In History, Rebekah W (Year 8) created beautiful posters to commemorate female revolutionaries, while in Young Writers’ Club Mia R wrote a profound poem entitled ‘Include Me’:
Include me. Include us.
Include me in the world.
Include me in a fight.
Include me in a world where all is now right.
Include me in your payroll.
Include me in your jobs.
Don’t tell me what to be when you're a righteous slob.
I am just as good as you,
And you as good as me.
Include me in a world where your blindness can now see.
We will not be at your beck and call.
We will not bite our tongue.
Include us before all is said and done.
I don’t see why there is all the fuss.
If you include me, you include us.
Rebekah W (Year 8) also created an acrostic about her heroine, Serena Williams.
