We are delighted to announce that Ms Helen Platt-Hawkins has been appointed as Head of Art at Queenswood. Helen is currently Head of Art at Worksop College. She will join Q in September, and in addition to managing the Art Department, she will also be responsible for the introduction of Photography at A-Level.
Ms Platt-Hawkins has worked across prep and senior independent schools for over 20 years. A passionate art enthusiast and keen photographer, she believes in Art for its own sake but enjoys being part of each students’ personal creative journey at GCSE or A Level.
Helen ran a successful wedding and event photography business for many years, alongside teaching, as well as arts and creative parties and workshops. Her current photographic practice consists of mini-installation pieces utilising images from her huge catalogue of travel photographs, she has captured people and objects in stunning and far-afield locations. From wild camping to skiing, canoeing to bouldering, adventure and challenge keep her mind and body alert.
Helen is looking forward to moving to Queenswood and becoming one of the team, building alongside all of the current staff on what already makes Art at Queenswood great, through introducing Photography at A-Level in September.
