We are indebted to members of the Queenswood community – both parents and OQs – who gave up their time on Friday 6 February to offer extremely helpful careers advice to Year 11.

Girls had the opportunity to speak to 20 highly experienced professionals, representing a range of professions including law, management, music production, dentistry, medicine, merchandising, interior design, theatre, the armed forces, finance, HR, marketing and advertising, mobile technology and IT consultancy. In addition to appointments scheduled in advance, the girls were encouraged to explore new and unexpected avenues on the day.

This was a great introduction to the world of work, and students interrogated visitors about career paths, work experience, the qualities required for certain professions and the recommended subjects to study beyond GCSE. The conversations flowed freely, and it was difficult to prise the girls away at the end of their allotted time!

More events are planned for the future, including in-depth talks from representatives of professions not featured at today’s event.
