ISTD Cecchetti Ballet: Queenswood’s Dancers ‘En Pointe’ With Superb Set of Results
Wednesday 6 December 2023
LISA CHRISTIAN, TEACHER OF BALLET
It was a busy weekend for ballet students who attended a ‘mock’ ballet examination in Potters Bar on the afternoon of Saturday 2 December, in preparation for their ISTD Cecchetti ballet examinations the following day. Parents and grandparents were able to enjoy observing and seeing the students in action on the Saturday afternoon and dancing to live piano accompaniment in a large examination space, which was a treat for all over the weekend.
There were 23 entries, with students preparing for both Standard and Graded ballet examinations, ranging from Year 8s taking their first ever Cecchetti ballet exams to an international student in Year 13 taking Grade 5.
We were thrilled with the results, which have just arrived: 0 x Fails, 0 x Passes, 8 x Merits and 15 x Distinctions, of which the highest mark was a whopping 94%!
The examiner thoroughly enjoyed her day and commented on the superb presentation and preparation of the candidates. She particularly liked the dance quality shown by the students. All these factors were clearly reflected in the high marks awarded.
A very special ‘well done’ must go to Isabelle A, Annabelle K, Tana S-B, Melania de M and Jessica Y, who took two ballet examinations each in one day and who achieved ten Distinctions between them.
A superb achievement for all and a lovely way to end the term!
