Junior Physics Challenge

The British Physics Olympiad is a competition which is run annually. It is a great way to challenge yourself and participation will look great on any college or university applications you complete in the future. It is a competition sponsored by both Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
The Junior Physics Challenge (formerly Year 10 Physics Challenge) is open to students in Year 10 or below. The competition consist of two twenty-five minute online multiple choice papers (30 questions per paper).
The questions will be based on an assortment of topics, principally Dynamics, Electricity, Optics, Heat, Units, small amounts of Astronomy, and Waves. Some questions are done by a process of elimination, some are general knowledge and not classroom physics, and some are taken from the school curriculum. It is a quiz, not an exam.
When is the test?
The Junior Physics Challenge 2021 will take place between Friday 30 April and Wednesday 19 May 2021 (dates TBC). The competition consists of two, 25-minute online tests that can be sat continuously or on two separate occasions.
The two sections are normally taken in school under staff-supervised conditions at any time convenient during the competition dates. A laptop is needed for this exam.
You will receive a certificate for your participation and it is an excellent opportunity for you to test your skills and put yourself up against other students nationally. If you are interested, please send Mrs Brazier an email ([email protected]) by 16:30 on Friday 26 March.
