Lily wins senior place in National Youth String Orchestra
Wednesday 16 November 2016
Congratulations to Queenswood Music Scholar Lily Harwood (Year 10), who has won a coveted place in the senior section of the National Youth String Orchestra (NYSO).
The standard is superb, and the seniors take young players up to the age of 21, so Lily has done extremely well to be selected aged 14.
Queenswood has a proud association with the NYSO. It was founded in 1995 by Viviane Ronchetti – at that time, the Head of Strings at Q – with support from Headmistress Audrey Butler. Patrons have included Sir Mark Elder, Dr Jane Glover, and the late Sir Neville Marriner.
Lily is the first Queenswoodian to join the senior orchestra since a certain Anne Wakefield (née Smith) played with them in the 1990s!
