Lockdown Artwork and January’s Artist of the Month
Wednesday 27 January 2021
Queenswood artists of all ages have been busy expressing themselves during the current lockdown.
Some have been inspired by the view from their window, others – including MC B – by the wildlife in their gardens. Andie O has been watching Bob Ross on BBC Four, while Marina E has been working on a project on the theme of food.
Andie’s stunning oil landscape earned her the accolade of Artist of the Month for January.
‘I recreated Valley View by Bob Ross in order to expand my techniques in different art styles of landscapes. The image is described by the creator himself as a “happy gathering of landscape finery”. I discovered Bob Ross’s art through his television show, ‘The Joy of Painting’, with the painting I replicated originally airing in 1987. I wanted to test my skills of oil painting but also pay homage to one of my favourite artists.’
Andie’s canvas will be displayed in the Principal’s office when we return to school after lockdown.
