At the request of some Year 9 students with a keen interest in global politics, this half term Dr Enright is delighted to have started offering Model United Nations club.

The club will be meeting on Wednesdays from 1:30-2:15pm in S8, and anyone in Year 9 or 10 is welcome to join.

In our first meeting, we learnt about the foundation, purpose, and structure of the United Nations and assigned countries from this year’s Security Council at random to each student.

This academic year we will learn about the running and procedures of an MUN conference and will prepare and run two mock conferences in school, with the aim to participate officially in a Model United Nations conference next year. The topic for discussion at our first mock conference in the Spring Term will be ‘The Rights of Climate Refugees’.
