New Travel Authorisation Required for Entry to the EU
Friday 6 October 2023
MR IAN SHELDON, SENIOR DEPUTY HEAD
From 1st January 2024, holders of passports from countries that currently enjoy visa-free entry to EU member states, such as the UK, will have to apply for travel authorisation before leaving, through the ETIAS scheme. The ETIAS is due to cost EUR 7 and will be valid for three years, or until the passport it relates to expires.
This clearly impacts our trips to EU countries, and we will be requiring sight of the ETIAS approval pre-departure if the passport requires it, but it will also affect many of your private holidays too. Please see the ETIAS website for more information.
