Tuesday 17 January 2023
Former Head Girl Olivia Garnham OQ (2011) sheds light on her fascinating job as a director at one of the world’s leading entertainment PR companies.
My Sixth Form years at Queenswood were formative; the teachers challenged and encouraged me, and their learning materials were interesting and varied. Each subject influenced my eventual career path, but it was the dedication of Mr and Mrs Kelley in the Drama department that chiefly harnessed my creativity and confidence.
I am now a Director at one of the world’s leading Entertainment PR firms, specialising in the personal representation of actors, directors, and models. Recent highlights include leading the press campaign for Joanna Scanlan’s eventual Leading Actress BAFTA win, working with Daniel Craig for his final appearance as Bond in No Time To Die, touring the world with Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke for House of the Dragon, and trying to stomach Irish whiskey with Ciarán Hinds whilst promoting Belfast, a performance that led him to the Oscars.
I often think back to my time at Queenswood and I am always left with a resounding sense of gratitude for having a space where I felt seen and heard in my teenage years, alongside a community that helped me grab hold of my dream of becoming a publicist one day.
