Professor Nichola Raihani will address a UNA Harpenden public meeting on Saturday at 10.45am at the Salvation Army Hall in Leyton Road, to talk about her recently published book The Social Instinct - How Cooperation Shaped the World. Nichola Raihani is a Royal Society Research Fellow and Professor in Evolution and Behaviour at University College London.

Exploring evolution, animal behaviour and human psychology, The Social Instinct reveals how and why cooperation has shaped and defined humankind - and what happens when it goes wrong. This is the first book by Professor Raihani, drawing on decades of research in the field and may be of particular interest to our Psychology students.

The event is free and guests unable to attend in person can join via use Zoom. You can register for the event here.

A concert in Rickmansworth on Saturday will turn the spotlight on a hugely gifted but virtually unknown Harrow-born composer.

Rebecca Clarke was perhaps the most distinguished British female composer of the inter-war generation. She was also a superb viola player but was almost forgotten by the time of her death in New York in 1979. Interest in her music has, however, grown over the past 20 years. The work that will be played at the Three Rivers Music Society concert is her viola sonata, which dates from 1919.

The afternoon concert is being given by Rachel Roberts, one of Europe’s leading viola players, and Tim Horton, a highly accomplished pianist who has given solo recitals at the Wigmore Hall.

Rachel is Professor of Viola at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has made a number of award-winning recordings. Tim is a regular guest pianist with the Nash Ensemble and has played with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle.

The concert will be held in the Baptist Church, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH. It will begin at 3pm. Tickets cost £16 at the door but there is free entry for under-25s. Click here to reserve your tickets.

If you're heading to the Capital this weekend, a new exhibition at the London Transport Museum might be of interest to you.

At Legacies: London Transport’s Caribbean Workforce, visitors can explore the struggles and triumphs, and celebrate the contribution Caribbean people have made to transport in London and British culture more widely and hear stories from first, second and third generation Caribbean people who worked for London Transport (LT) or still work for Transport for London (TfL). Click here for more information.

With spring just around the corner, why not try your hand at bottle feeding a lamb at Aldenham Country Park this weekend.

The park's lambs are due from this month and they are expecting a lot of triplets this year, which means there will be extra mouths to feed.

The cost for the activity is £16.50 and in addition, farm passes are required at £6 per person. These will automatically be added when you purchase your bottle feeding pass. Click here to buy tickets .
