Former Queenswood Sports Scholar Hannah Williams is currently in Australia, competing in the first ever Nitro Athletics event.

Hannah, who has competed at the IAAF World Junior Championship and World Youth Championship in the 400m over the past two years, left Q in the summer of 2016, and is already making fantastic progress as a mature elite athlete. She is currently fourth on the UK junior indoor 400m all-time list.

The Nitro Athletics event, held across three days in February, is a new initiative. The emphasis is on team achievement, as five nations plus Usain Bolt’s All-Star team each put forward 24 athletes in a range of disciplines.

Hannah is extremely excited at the prospect of encountering the world’s fastest ever sprinter. She told the Welwyn and Hatfield Times: ‘I’ve seen him run in London at the Olympics and the Anniversary Games. Fingers crossed I will meet him in Australia. That would be amazing.’
