Proud Performances at National Hockey Finals
Thursday 7 March 2019
Queenswood's 1st XI put in some superlative performances to win bronze at the National Tier 2 Hockey Finals at the end of February.
Queenswood's route to the National Tier 2 Hockey Finals:
- Round 1:
Queenswood 6–1 Sutton Valence - Round 2:
Queenswood 5–1 Forest - Round 3:
Queenswood 4–2 New Hall - Quarter Final:
vs Haileybury: Walk Over
27–28 February at Lee Valley Olympic Park
- Semi Final:
Queenswood 1–3 Canford
Goal Scorer: Jordan Homann
We were a little disappointed with the result, as we had more than enough chances to score more goals; however, Canford's goalkeeper had a very good game. Our sprits were still high, with our sights now set on the third-fourth playoff against AKS Lytham.
- Third-fourth Play-off
Queenswood 9–0 AKS LythamGoal Scorers: Jordan Homann 5, Hannah Kilpatrick 2, Gabby M-P 1, Megan Langley 1
After the disappointment of the day before, the girls came out fighting with an excellent display of fluent attacking Hockey, compounded with some brilliant team goals.
Many of our players have a very bright future in the sport. Jordan Homann is looking to continue in the England Hockey Pathway with the U21 Squad. Hannah Kilpatrick and Mia Lasocki are in the England Hockey Pathway at Performance Centre, striving towards Futures Cup again and an England Assessment. Megan Langley has just been selected for the Wales U18 Squad. Sofia Martin is just 14 years old. She is currently injured, but trains at the England Hockey Performance Centre, and is hoping for Futures Cup Selection. And for captain Milly Davies, it was great to finish her school Hockey career on a high.
A number of girls are leaving the 1st XI this year after seven years of superb commitment to Queenswood Hockey, and we would like to thank them for their determination, professionalism and fantastic team spirit.
