Queenswood Music Scholar Grace heading for the charts with Military Wives

Sunday 20 November 2016

Queenswood Music Scholar Grace Cornell (Upper Sixth) is very proud to be one of over 1000 singers featured on the latest Military Wives Choirs CD release, Home For Christmas.

Grace recorded two tracks with the Bristol MVC at St George’s Studio, Bristol, back in September. Now the CD is set for release nationwide, and it’s being described as the Wives’ most powerful album yet.

The album is available to pre-order from Amazon, and is on general sale nationwide from Friday 25 November.

Amongst the twelve festive favourites that make up Home for Christmas, six carols have had their lyrics updated to reflect what Christmas means to 21st century families, who often cannot spend Christmas together.

To make the updated carols truly impactful, it was key to involve as many choir ladies as possible. Before the project began, each of the 1006 wives who sang on the album – including the Cornells – shared their stories and their favourite carols, and were then involved in creating new words inspired by their experiences.

The project boasts an exceptional musical pedigree. The choirs and musicians were directed by three highly esteemed conductors: Hilary Davan Wetton, Will Dawes and Mark De Lisser. The executive producer, Rick Blaskey, has worked with an array of artists including Russell Watson, Andrea Bocelli, Ricky Martin, Paloma Faith, and Dame Shirley Bassey.
