Thursday 2 February 2017

Queenswood’s musicians were extremely privileged to spend a day at the historic and world-renowned Angel Studios on Wednesday 1 February, recording a diverse range of pieces for a new album.

Queenswood Singers at Angel Studios – It Don’t Mean A Thing

The girls were made to feel so relaxed in Studio One, where so many international and award-winning music makers have recorded over the years. Director of Music Jonathan Dobson was amazed at the way the girls adapted to thedemands of performing for the microphone, due in no small measure to the care
and professionalism of the superb team of engineers.

The eclectic programme ranges from close harmony standards to baroque recorder consort, and from student protest songs to jazz fusion composition. It promises to be the perfect showcase for the extraordinarily high standard of music-making at Queenswood.

At the end of an exhausting day, the girls were elated to hear the stunning raw mixes from the sound desk. We can’t wait to share the finished product with you, but in the meantime we hope you enjoy listening to some short excerpts recorded in the control room.
