Queenswood Purple Challenge Club – This week we are reading…
Thursday 18 March 2021
Have you heard about the Queenswood Purple Challenge Club? Every few weeks we set an activity or challenge for girls who are interested in joining Q and who are currently in Years 4, 5 and 6. They complete the challenges in their free time, and the winner receives £30 of Amazon gift vouchers.
For our most recent challenge, girls were asked to design a book cover for their favourite book. Their eye-catching designs have impressed Mrs Truran, our Queenswood Librarian, enormously and she found it very difficult to choose the winning entries. It is fantastic to see that our pupils of the future relish reading as much as our current students! Well done to all of the girls who entered the competition – here are the winning illustrations.
Emmy C
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
‘This perfectly depicted the title. I even looked up a Prairie to see how it compared. It showed the isolation of life here so well. The family is the focus of life in this story.’ – Mrs Truran
Lottie D
The Case of the Drowned Pearl by Robin Stevens
Delight O
Skellig by David Almond
‘One of my all-time favourites. I loved seeing this interpretation of the creature in the garage.’ – Mrs Truran
Eleanor S
The Story of Tracey Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson
Isabella M
Tilly and the Book Wanderers by Anna James
‘A lovely imaginative cover using the background of classic books.
We had a virtual visit from this author last year.’ – Mrs Truran
Becky SJ
The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
