Queenswood receives Best Schools Award for A-Level Results

Sunday 29 April 2018

We’re thrilled to have received a Best Schools award for academic achievement – our fourth in five years.

The prize, awarded by the internationally respected website best-schools.co.uk, acknowledges exceptional performance at A-Level and Pre-U. Queenswood pupils achieved over 54% A*-A grades in the summer of 2017, resulting in the our highest position in the history of the awards.

There were some exceptional success stories among those statistics, with all candidates in Further Maths achieving A*, and 100% of pupils in Modern Languages and History gaining A*–B grades.

Principal Jo Cameron said, ‘I am so delighted for the Queenswood community. Our girls and staff work with incredible enthusiasm and commitment, and this award is a real testament to their mindset. To be ranked in the top 20 girls’ boarding schools in the country – and the best in the county – for our academic achievement is a great honour.’

The award arrived as the school’s current prefect team prepared to hand over to their successors. Outgoing Head Girl Lucy Wakeley, who is about to sit A-levels in Government and Politics, History and Geography, is not daunted by the standards set in 2017. ‘This award is a great incentive for the current Upper Sixth to show what we can do. We’ll be aiming to climb even higher in the table next year!’
