Queenswood riding team excel in first competition

Amelia Segen (Lower Sixth) writes:

On Saturday 19 January 2019 Queenwood’s riding team embarked on our first competition. It was held at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre, a rather large venue with many stressful situations for the horses to overcome.

Everyone did brilliantly for our first competition as a team! An early success was Annabel Burr and Dougal achieving an 8th place in the 80cm warm up class. Vivi Flatt and Grace came 7th place in the 70cm class, narrowly missing out on qualifying. Both teams performed brilliantly in the 80cm class, with Ella Sibley and Athena coming 4th overall, a superb achievement in such a huge class.

Q did well in the 90cm with Willow Hayes and Sandy gaining 5th place, again a brilliant achievement in a class of over 80 competitors. Following on from their success, Willow and Sandy came 3rd place in the 1.10cm pony class.

We would like to thank Fabbes our trainer for some fabulous organisation as well as everyone who came to support us, including our parents, who had the tricky job of transporting our horses and ponies! We are very grateful to Q for the support as well as our beautiful numnahs.

A special mention must go to Karen and Bethany Norton for some amazing photography, videoing and being our moral support on such a cold day!
