Queenswood Scientists Enjoy a Rainforest Roadshow
Wednesday 23 March 2016
To celebrate Science Week, on 16 March the Science department was visited by Briony from Zoolab and her “Rainforest Roadshow”. Briony spoke to all of Year 7 and 8, and used some of her travelling menagerie to illustrate how many animals have adapted to changes in their habitats.
Everyone was fascinated, and some pupils (and staff!) were extremely brave in confronting their fears and handling the animals. We would like to thank Briony, and particularly Casper the corn snake, George the rat, the Chilean Rose tarantula (Mrs Norris – who mostly stayed in her box!), Neville the beautiful Amazon milk frog, Rowena the giant millipede, Modette the Madagascan cockroach and Shelly the giant African snail.
We hope to welcome Briony back next year to teach us some more about adaptation and evolution.
