Queenswood Young Enterprise teams do a roaring trade at Christmas market
Sunday 14 December 2014
This year, the Young Enterprise teams have been tasked with making their own products, and for the first time they must take their businesses out into the wider community.
On Friday 5 December, after months of careful planning and producing, 12 intrepid entrepreneurs travelled to Ware to set up shop at the Dickensian Evening event. This was a first opportunity for the companies to test out their prices and sales pitches on the public. The Coral Company were selling their unique handmade scented candles, while Elusive hoped to tempt customers with their own homemade jewellery and scrunchies.
It was a very cold, clear winter’s evening but the people of Ware were out in their thousands for some festive fun and Christmas shopping. Roads were closed to make way for a fun fair and hundreds of stalls – including around 20 other local Young Enterprise teams.
Initial sales were soon made and the girls’ confidence grew as more and more shoppers came to look at their products. Their sales pitches became finely tuned and their professional-looking stalls attracted plenty of interest. At the end of the night, the cash boxes were brimming and the girls were full of excitement.
It was a fantastic experience for all involved, and couldn’t have been achieved without the very generous help and support of their Business Advisors, Stuart Bennett and Sam Adby.
