Queenswood’s Junior Athletes Win County Round of Track and Field Cup

Queenswood’sJunior Athletics Squad had a very successful day on Friday 8 May at the county round
of the English School Track and Field Cup, finishing first with 324 points, 21
points ahead of the next placed school.
There were many
outstanding performances throughout the day, most notably Gabby Murray-Panayiotou (Year 8) winning both the Javelin with a throw of
25.63m and the hurdles with a time of 12.8s. She amassed an individual total of
51 points, making her the highest point scorer of the day!
Eliza Blayne (Year 7) ran a fantastic 800m, finishing in first
place with a time of 2.41s after a battle for the finish line. Holly Hodgkinson
broke the school record with a run of 5.24s in the 1500m closely followed by
Ellie Gilmore (Year 7) who finished with a time of 5.28s. Tamyah Jones (Year 8)
also scored highly after a win in the 200m with a time of 28.1s.
All girls were excellent throughout the day and this team effort
now sees the junior squad through to the regional finals at the beginning of
June.
