Queenswood’s Mock Election: The Results
Monday 8 July 2024
RICHARD MILLER, HEAD OF POLITICS
On Thursday 4 July, as the nation voted in the General Election, we held our own mock ballot.
Overcoming their nationwide historic losses, but in a very tight mock election, here at Queenswood the Conservative Party edged out Labour by a lead of 3%. There was success for nearly all four parties, with the Liberal Democrats winning Year 10, Labour winning Year 12 and Clapham North, and Reform being edged out by a vote in Year 7 and by two votes in Clapham South. But it was the Conservatives who were able to win the most ‘mini-constituencies’* securing 11 out of 23 as well as the overall vote.
Overall result:
Party | Percentage vote | ‘Seats’ |
Conservative | 31% | 11 |
Labour | 28% | 6 |
Liberal Democrats | 23% | 4 |
Reform | 16% | 2 |
By comparison, in Queenswood’s 2019 mock election, the Liberal Democrats were the winners, with Conservatives in second and Labour and the Green Party tied in third place.
A further thanks and congratulations to the representatives of the parties, who campaigned, debated, educated, and counted. Their performances in the final Q&A/debate in Thursday’s Chapel were particularly impressive.
