Sixth Form Medical Society
Thursday 26 November 2020
The Science department has established a new online society for aspiring medical and veterinary students in the Sixth Form, and it’s proving to be very popular.
Students meet via Google Classroom to review articles from journals, videos and TED talks and other academic materials relating to human and animal medicine.
One of their first tasks is to research and evaluate common treatment methods for gastric ulcers, and to devise a series of questions, tests and observations that could be used by doctors or vets to diagnose the condition.
Over time, Miss Smith (Head of Science) hopes to invite guest speakers to address the students via Zoom and, eventually, in person.
Participation in Medical Society is an invaluable way of preparing for university applications for medical and veterinary courses.
