Speech Day 2023
Monday 3 July 2023
Pupils, parents, OQs, staff, Governors and VIP friends of Queenswood gathered on Saturday 1 July for a celebration of another year of outstanding achievement and participation.
Our guest speaker was Olympic athlete Jodie Williams OQ, who spoke powerfully and poignantly about how she has learned over the course of her stellar career to redefine what success means to her. She also discussed her involvement with Femlead, a charity aiming to eradicate period poverty and empower young women in Uganda.
The outgoing Head Girl, Sofia M gave a very warm and witty speech, in which she paid tribute to the friends and staff who have supported her in her academic and sporting endeavours over the last seven years.
There were also speeches from Mr James de Sausmarez (Chair of Governors), Mr Ian Sheldon (Senior Deputy Head) and Mrs Ceri Stokes (Deputy Head Pastoral), and a vote of thanks from Deputy Head Girls Moni O and Olivia T.
After the ceremony, members of the OQA invited families to join them for a glass of Pimms on Trew Lawn, while Upper Sixth Leavers and their families enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch in the marquee.
